Ermias just started working at Sabahar in late 2005. He is one of two Weaving Supervisors. He helps train weavers, checks the quality of their work, and supports them to make the best products they can. Before working at Sabahar, he was working as an independent weaver specializing in tibebs. In fact, he wove all the clothes for his own wedding. Ermias has also gone down to Arba Minch, southern Ethiopia to work with a partner cooperative and train them on how to use the large, industrial looms. This handicraft association is now the first and only one in Arba Minch that weaves on the big looms. Working at Sabahar is a great new challenge for Ermias because "It works with cotton, wool, silk and linen. I have never woven fibers other than cotton and synthetics before working at Sabahar. The company gives great opportunities for weavers as it really challenges their potential. I also appreciate that we are sending beautiful, Ethiopian products throughout the world so they can see what Ethiopia can do." Ermias prides himself as a designer and is eager to bring his new ideas to the global market.
