The ‘tibeb’ design is a revered, uniquely Ethiopian design. Artisans handpick the threads to create the geometric pattern. Sabahar has used this skill to work with beautiful Mulberry silk to create the design. The shawl itself is made of bleached white, lightweight cotton. The edges are adorned with our signature hand-braided fringes. This shawl is named after Empress Taitu who reigned in Ethiopia from 1889 to 1913. She was the third wife of Emperor Menelik II and a powerful anti-colonial force in Ethiopia.
