What makes Sabahar Living products different?

Sabahar Living pieces are crafted exclusively from natural fibres such as hand-spun Ethiopian cotton. The slow, hands-on process gives each throw blanket, pillow, and basket a distinctive texture and weight that cannot be replicated by machines. Designed for everyday use, these pieces bring warmth, comfort, and lasting quality into the home.

How are they made?

Every step of the process, from dyeing and spinning to weaving and finishing, is done by hand in our Addis Ababa workshop. Artisans work on large traditional looms, including four-harness looms for added texture and structure, and use techniques like hand pick-up weaving for intricate patterns. The result: fabrics that last, feel softer with every use, and tell a beautiful story of craftsmanship.

Who makes them?

Sabahar is a fair-trade, women-owned business that has been operating for over 20 years. We provide fair wages, safe working conditions, and long-term employment to over 100 artisans in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Why it matters?

Choosing Sabahar means supporting ancient crafts and the people who keep it alive. Our textiles are made from 100% Ethiopian cotton, naturally breathable and biodegradable. Each towel carries the story of the hands that made it and the tradition it helps sustain - a small choice that makes a real difference.
