The handmade, fair trade, and eco friendly Ethiopian Abay towel is a colorful accompaniment for any trip to the beach or a bright accent in your home. Made of hand spun Ethiopian cotton, it is buttery soft and finished with Sabahar's signature twisted fringes. The Ethiopian weavers make these on their traditional, two-harness looms which create a flat weave. They are lightweight, durable, and fast drying. They are great for the bathroom, the beach, the pool, the sauna but also can be worn as a shawl or used as a throw on a couch or the bottom of the bed. Many of our clients use them as nursing blankets. This collection is named after the Abay river, or the Nile in English, which originates in Ethiopia.

Tori Egger I am visiting in Addis Ababa this week and heard about the local Sabinar shop. From the moment I stepped in the door, I was in love with these textiles. I purchased several sets of beach towels to give as wedding gifts and also various table runners and hand towels. A friend of mine said she purchased several hand towels a few years back (before Covid) and they still serve her well. Now after listening to the video about the company, I may go back again tomorrow.
