What makes Sabahar bags different?
Unlike many accessories made from synthetic fabrics or low-quality blends, Sabahar bags are crafted from natural materials including extra-thick hand-spun Ethiopian cotton, high-quality Belgian linen, and fabric remnants from our weaving workshop. These materials offer strength, texture, and a story behind every stitch.
How are they made?
Every step from dyeing to spinning to weaving is done entirely by hand. The fabrics used in our bags are woven using traditional Ethiopian techniques. Some bags are made with extra-thick hand-spun cotton for added durability, while others use Belgian linen or fabric remnants re-woven into new textiles as part of our zero-waste approach. Each bag is then cut, sewn, and finished in-house, combining heritage craft with practical design built to last.
Who makes them?
Sabahar is a fair trade, women-owned business that has been operating for over 20 years. We provide fair wages, safe working conditions, and long-term employment to over 100 artisans in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
