Sabahar’s scarves and shawls are crafted from 100% natural Ethiopian cotton and silk, with some designs using hand-spun yarn for added texture and softness. These natural fibres are breathable, biodegradable, and kind to the skin.
How are they made?
Each scarf and shawl is woven by hand, using traditional Ethiopian techniques that have been passed down through generations. While some designs incorporate hand-spun cotton or silk, others use finely milled natural fibres for intricate patterns and subtle textures. From dyeing to finishing, every step is done by hand.
Who makes them?
Sabahar is a fair trade, women-owned business that has been operating for over 20 years. We provide fair wages, safe working conditions, and long-term employment to over 100 artisans in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
