We are really proud of this 100% zero-waste beach bag! After sewing our cushions, tea towels and other products, there is inevitably a bit of fabric waste. Instead of throwing this away, we collect it, cut it into strips and then re-weave it into fabric. It is this fabric that we use to produce this beautiful bag. Inevitably, every bag will be unique and colors will vary. The handles are even woven into the bag for a seamless look. It is machine washable, 100% natural, 100% locally sourced raw material and 100% recycled material. It is lined with cotton so it is also durable and will last you a lifetime.

Behind the Weave: How it's Made?
Behind the Weave: How it's Made?
What makes Sabahar bags different?
Unlike many accessories made from synthetic fabrics or low-quality blends, Sabahar bags are crafted from natural materials including extra-thick hand-spun Ethiopian cotton, and fabric remnants from our weaving studio. The hand-spun cotton gives each piece a distinct texture and durability that machines cannot reproduce. No two bags are exactly alike, each carrying the subtle variations that make handwoven pieces unique.
How are they made?
All the fabrics used in our bags are hand-spun, dyed, and woven in Addis Ababa using traditional Ethiopian techniques. Depending on the design, weavers use thick cotton, linen, or recycled fibres re-woven into new textiles. The finished fabrics are then cut, sewn, and re-assembled, combining heritage craftsmanship with practical design built to last.
Who makes them?
Sabahar is a fair-trade, women-owned business that has been operating for over 20 years. We provide fair wages, safe working conditions, and long-term employment to over 100 artisans in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Why it matters?
Choosing Sabahar means supporting ancient crafts and the people who keep it alive. Our textiles are made from 100% Ethiopian cotton, naturally breathable and biodegradable. Each towel carries the story of the hands that made it and the tradition it helps sustain - a small choice that makes a real difference.
