These shawls are light weight, eco friendly, Fair Trade and handcrafted. The Telba shawls are made from imported Belgian linen thread which is then woven on our traditional looms. Finished with an eyelash fringe, these beautiful linen pieces are richly colored. "Telba" means flax, or linen, in Amharic. The flax seed, or linseed, is a large export crop but Ethiopia is yet to cultivate flax to produce linen fiber.

Admittedly, I'm biased. There was a time in my life when I traveled to Ethiopia regularly for work, which gave me the opportunity to visit the Sabahar store in Addis several times. I've been a HUGE fan ever since. The quality is excellent and the piece is BEAUTIFUL Plus, it's handmade by Ethiopian artisans, which makes it special. I'll continue buying from Sabahar, my go to store for cotton/linen textiles!
